So i learned a few things- maybe a little to late but never the less it's a good sharing and i hope other's benefits from it!
(1) Always engage the kitchen cabinet designed as early as possible. The guy from Intech Kitchen had even said it should be even before i engage and agree anything with the main contractor.
(2) Next step is agree the design of the kitchen
(3) Once agreed, contact kitchen cabinet and electrician at the same time! So the cabinet guy can explain 2 (ok 3!) very important things to the electrician:
(a) Where the exact plug points need to be based on your design
(b) VERY IMPORTANT- which plug points must be pulled directly from the DB box ie for the Oven, Microwave, Hood and Fridge and the size of the wire should be no less than 2.5MM. No sharing of wires between these 4 is allowed due to the high voltage of electricity used!
(c) So ok i thought of another one- the proper height of your countertop and how to build the countertop if your own contractor is doing this!
I made quite a few mistakes ie i didn't do any of the above- SUCH A DIS-APPOINTMENT.
(1) I didn't know that for my built in oven i needed to pull this from the DB so my electrician didn't do this. He has shared this with a few other plugs! SOB SOB SOB! How did i miss this since i love baking and wanted a nice big built in oven :(
(2) As i didn't mention which plug point i wanted for what he didn't do the control switches for me to on or off the oven/microwave. Again a silly mistake as i didn't think of this and neither did the electrician ask me!!!
(3) The countertop which my contractor built for me was to low- 30.5 inches while standard Asian height is 33 inches. The most prominent issue is that i bought a nice deep double sink which now is to low even i have to bend to pick up things from the base of the sink!!! And mind you i am not tall... Sigh sigh sigh...
(4) Plus some plug points needs to be at least 13AMP or 32AMP depending on the voltage of your oven. So bear in mind..
Wish someone had told me this or that i did proper research before commencing so i hope the rest of you will do the same before starting this journey.
As my house tiling and electrical work is completed, i now need to decide how to fix some of the main issues especially for my OVEN as i am looking forward to picking up my baking again...
On the other hand- i really like Intech Kitchen. They really took the time to explain things to me even if there were so busy with customer's walking into the shop. They shared the genuine concerns about the plug points and the risk around it. I have had one of them come over to see my place and give me a quote. Still haven't decided what and how to rectify the issues. Am waiting for the 3D drawing the the price quote to decide further..
I'll update soon on the decisions and the rectification i needed to do!
I hope this helps the rest of you who are thinking of re-modelling your kitchen..
